John Doe features as a
non-commercial exhibition space artists' projects and installations. John
Doe starts with an exhibition by the Israeli artist Gil Shachar, who lives
since 1996 in Germany. Gil Shachar is winner of the
Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Award for Sculpture and the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Award,
originally founded by Anselm Kiefer, among others. He is doing sculptures
from wax and resin in combination with real objects. The hands and arms
which will to be seen at John Doe's are engaged in banal or violent action.
As a fragment of the human body they signify the individual person to whom
they belong but due to their sculptural presence they gain at the same
time an independent personality of their own. For John Doe Gil Shachar
conceived an unique installation with partly especially executed pieces. |
